Finally got around to that story yesterday on NCAA graduation rates. Maybe I missed it on the list, but even if I did, they're worth repeating.
NU and Duke graduated 97% of their student athletes, according to the NCAA, ranking behind only Navy and Notre Dame (98%) among major schools. I believe those were for all athletes.
They didn't have our football rankings alone, but out of the current top 25 - no surprise to see Vandy, Wake and PSU at the top (though Texas Tech was a surprise). Sadly, also not a surprise to see Oklahoma, Georgia and Texas at the bottom - all at 50% or less. And MSU and OSU were right behind at 51% anf 52% respectively. Also interesting how three of last year's women's Final Four -- UConn, Stanford and Tennessee -- had 100% four-year rates while none of the men's Final Four did (though Davidson was a game away and had 100%).
Of course there's more to the numbers with transfers and all, but still a fine job by NU's coaches and athletes to not forget that we are an academic institution first.
GO CATS!!!
