I can't think that an on-line poll could hurt attendance, but I could see
where coming out flat against another ranked team at home in a featured (2:30)
game, point and a half underdogs losing by 17 could. It is hard to fault
unaffiliated fans for saying 'Same old Northwestern', even if that might not be
the case.
The best thing for attendance would be beating MSU, Purdue, Indiana,
Minnesota...

The article is not so bad, but they have a reader poll next to the article:
Plans for Saturday?
So you may have been guilted into going to Northwestern's last game. This
week you will…
* Study in the library
* Head into Chicago
* Hit the tailgate, but not the game
* Stick by my 'Cats all the way, baby
We are not a 1-5 team where the coach guaranteed(promised) victory last week
and did not deliver, we are a 5-1 team that played a very poopy 1st quarter
vs. the Spartans. Reader polls like this don't help attendance as 3/4
answers are anti-attendance. Northwestern has had a historically strong connection
to the Trib. I don't expect a positive bias, but at least we could limit
the negative bias.
