[NU Sports] This doesn't help attendance...

Given that almost every newspaper today has a bias against any large
institution, it's not surprising to me that some kid in the newsroom would
sneak a marginally negative poll on the sports page about NU.
We sometimes forget that there are more Wisconsin, Michigan and N**** D***
alums in Chicago than we have there. Our largest single group of alumni used
to be in DC, followed by NY and LA. Not sure about those numbers since I
haven't seen anything lately, but living out here in lower slower Delaware,
I think I'm one of 2 or 3 alums so I can't gripe too much.
Anyway, you have to wonder about NU's presentation of itself. When ESPN put
the student radio station PBP up, our announcers sounded like a typical
college station, Syracuse's guy sounded like LA or New York. I know our guys
are really good, but listen to the voices of the guys doing local football
or baseball. You'll see what I mean.
I really like the plan that's been floated about dropping the prices of
non-conference games a bit, but until we can get over half of Ryan filled
with purple fans, it's not going to be "our" house and that will hurt us.
Go Cats.

We are not a 1-5 team where the coach guaranteed(promised) victory last week
and did not deliver, we are a 5-1 team that played a very poopy 1st quarter
vs. the Spartans. Reader polls like this don't help attendance as 3/4
answers are anti-attendance. Northwestern has had a historically strong
connection to the Trib. I don't expect a positive bias, but at least we
could limit the negative bias.
