Nice to have a later kickoff return to Evanston - also nice to be ESPN2 instead of ABC regional (we get that ASU-USC snoozer here in Phoenix and will probably get the F'ing Irish on ESPN). Hope the D is focused to shut down Ringer and the O is ready to go!

Some early game thoughts while waiting for kickoff at Dyche ...

* Is Ed Hochule's crew reffing the Red River RIvalry? Some out-and-out terrible calls the last few drives against OU that make me think of those idiotic refs in New Orleans on MNF and in Denver a few weeks ago. Entertaining game, though I still think the Big XII is a tad overrated this year.

* Minnesota is starting to scare me a bit. We knew Brewster would turn the Gophers around, but I didn't expect it to be this quick. And it's not the O, it's the D that is shutting down Illinois.

* Iowa finally is putting it all together. Glad we got them in Kinnick early.

* Michigan ... what the heck? I thought the Wisky game was a turning point but it just appears to be an abberation now.

Should be a great day of pigskin! I think OSU will roll in West Lafayette but the night game could be very interesting. Wisky is a cornered Badger looking at an 0-3 start -- they'll be PSU's toughest test yet under the lights and, much like Iowa this morning, knows they cannot start in that 0-3 hole and will come out swinging.

But of course the only game that REALLY matters is in Evanston in 45 minutes. FIRE UP PURPLE!!!
