[NU Sports] 10 league games? Not likely

Something else to keep in mind.
The "weak" non-con schedule sometimes benefits the "weaker" team too.
Look at the national boost the AP State received by beating UoM. The
nation started to pay attention to NU in '95 because we beat ND.
The MAC has grown from initially being cannon fodder for the BT to
beating BT teams because they schedule a lot of BT games. Part of that
growth is the MAC recruiting promise that kids who maybe got passed over
by BT schools will have a chance to beat them on the field.
Also, these are big paydays for both teams, not just the BT.

I would rather that the Bowl Committees pick teams based upon their
records
and difficulty of schedule --Unfortunately the mid and lower bowls dont
do
this--and it encourages schools to have weak non conference
schedules--Of course
the committees look at fan and TV base as well to bring in revenue-
But I think there ought to be more push to have schools such as NU and
any
others to not get rewarded for weak schedules--but so long as the
overall
record is such a key determinant, schools are incentivised to load up on
weak
opponents
