Jim Phillips is one of the speakers at the Fast Break Club reception before the DePaul game on December 6th. There is usually plenty of opportunity to talk with the speakers one-on-one or at least ask questions.
We are out of country on the 6th otherwise we would bring it up.

This is the kind of thing that would really have some impact on TV.
The Battle for Lincoln's Lid
There has to be an old Stovepipe Hat down in the costume shop at the Theater
Dept. It probably has some history - Jerry Orbach wore it in a show one
time? Or maybe Charlton Heston? Or even Gerry Marshall?
Anyway, put it under a glass dome and bring it out every year, maybe get a
hat stand that could carry a suitable engraved plaque describing what it is
for.
At least we've got the Sweet Sioux now and will get to keep it.
I wonder if the athletic dept is still reading this list????

Fellow Wildcat Faithful,
I threw this idea out there somewhat jokingly, but I'm starting to think it
has potential. I think NU and Illinois could come up with some sort of large
stovepipe hat that could become the trophy that replaces the Sweet Sioux.
Abe Lincoln is certainly the most recognized symbol of Illinois.
I think it adds to the fun of the college rivalries to have silly trophies
like the little brown jug and the old oaken bucket.
Victory & Honor,
Jim
