As a former Harrisburg resident (who still follows the Sens fairly religiously from Brooklyn, NY) I take a little offense to the comment.  Frankly, being back in Chicago and seeing what the Tribune has devolved in, I wonder if it isn't that papers such as the Patriot-News aren't sub-standard but that there are very few newspapers (St. Paul Pioneer Press, for example) that are exemplary.
