The Sun Times is reporting that they want to establish a "Lincoln-Obama
Pride of Illinois Trophy" for the NU-Ill game.
"Pride of Illinois" is a good name for a trophy, putting a name of a living
person (especially one who hasn't really done anything except get elected)
on any award can raise the ire of various alumni who may or may not change
their giving habits.
When they changed the School of Speech to whatever gobbledygook it is now, I
stopped giving and I won't send in any news because I graduated from the
School of Speech, not the new place. I says so on my diploma.
Yes on Pride of Illinois
No on putting names on it.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of
government. It can only exist until the voters
discover they can vote themselves largess out of
the public treasury." -- attributed to
Alexis De Tocqueville - 18th cent. or maybe
Alexander Tytler by Ronald Regan, March 5, 1964.
