If I'm not mistaken, I think Harry was saying the exactly opposite. President-elect Obama has called for a playoff.  Not much waffling there. 

Harry's concern is that a playoff would deprive us of all this meaty bowl chatter. 

I agree that there is significant inertia in any existing system. But I think that there are plenty of ways for the bowls to participate that would still give the top teams a playoff format. 

To paraphrase another great american - if you wanted to vote against Bill Clinton again you should have voted twice 12 years ago. <G>

Ah yes, buyer's remorse.

As long as the Bowl guys have pull with their congressperson, the states
that host bowls will rule the day.

BHO is just another version of Clinton, who never made a move without
putting his finger in the air to see which way the wind (and contributions)
blows.
