Sure they want a shot at the title. 
 At this juncture they do not control their own destiny for pasadena . Thus if they don't get a shot at the title they will need help to have another shot at The Roses

Out here in L.A., SC fans are actually hoping that Oregon State goes to the Rose Bowl. They're then hoping that the Trojans wind up in the Sugar Bowl against Florida or Alabama.
