[NU Sports] Say it ain't so.................

I believe OSU will be a stiff challenge for our up and down team.

That said, they made huge strides this last week against Minny. Hats
off to the coaching staff for getting them ready, giving them a plan
that they could believe in, and leaving it in their hands to execute.

It wasn't a perfect game (few are), but it is incredible after all these
years to see NU win with defense. This is now Fitz's team. Whether or
not we win another game this year, the future looks bright in Evanston.

On to OSU

They have been an up and down team this year too - not surprising with a
true freshman QB.

We have to keep the game close by making Pryor pass rather than run and
not giving them any short fields to work with.

When we have the ball, IMHO, we have to stretch the field vertically.
That means some 2nd and short situations where the OSU defense has to
honestly play the run. That said, if they are willing to let us dink
and dunk our way down the field, as others have, we have to take it.

This is going to be a serious test for our defense and special teams.

Hopefully, as others have said, we get them on a down day, put them in a
hole, and keep them there.

Jeff

It's always fun to play the fantasy game "what if" but does anybody
really think we have a good chance to beat the Bucks on Saturday? I
think they have too much team speed and too many weapons for an upset.
We remember that
great upset win in 2004, but that was against a much weaker OSU team.
I'd love
to beat the Bucks on Saturday, but Cats would have to play a virtually
error-free game and the Bucks would have to come in flat and
distracted. Because they have so much at stake now in the BCS standings,
the Bucks will play with motivation and purpose. Tressel, I'm sure,
also has not forgotten 2004.

Our bowl hopes really rest on beating UM and Illinois. The Blue are
battered and down, but in their house in Ann Arbor, it will be no easy W
for the Cats. And the Illinois game will be war. I just hope we emerge
from the OSU game without injuries and prepared to win those two games.
Without those wins, we probably end up in Detroit.
