At that point, it will all depend on who ends up in the top 12 of the BCS
rankings. If NU does run the table don't discount the 'Cats sneaking into
the top 12, given the number of games between teams in the current top 12
(Texas Tech must still play Oklahoma and Oklahoma St.; Big XII South winner
must play the North winner, likely Missouri; Alabama must play LSU and the
SEC East champion, likely Florida; Utah must play TCU and BYU). I say all
of this while knocking on wood, of course.
The best thing that the 'Cats can do for their cause is to go out and win
football games. None of the remaining games are givens, even Michigan, who
will want to win their final home game of the year, and Illinois, who has
the ability to put up some big offensive numbers. If Northwestern can match
its best win total for over a decade, and can finish the season strong, that
should be a compelling story for bowls to pick up.
Go 'Cats!!!
