and wanted to pass out some game balls for listers!!

Mr. Leonard ... for pick-six prediction, brilliant, let's go to the track sometime, eh?

And I second Mr. Abrahamson on the gopher guts post. Bravo!

As inspiring a win as I can remember. The mental toughness of the kids in bouncing back from the Indiana disaster ... guess it's not a rerun of 2001 after all, thank Goodness!!

Kafka's poise in not letting the picks bother him was very impressive, and the offensive line, despite being battered and hurt, did a very good job under the circumstances.

Defensively I thought stopping the run was the key to game-long success. It's possible to win games with just passing, it's harder -- because Gill and Mims and Wooton and Co. shut down the run, Minny had to pass on a couple of key 3rd-and-4's and did not convert.

The more the season goes on, it's clear that Hankwitz was the best hire NU has made in years. He can adjust, his schemes reward aggressiveness and smarts and he lets his athletic players use their athleticism. Give Fitz a high-five for that one.

Good week to be a Wildcat!!

ps -- as a White Sox fan I was also delighted to see NU win the last game in the Humpy Dome. NU and the Sox have been tortured in that dump for decades. If the Vikes ever get a new field, I'll gladly push the pluinger to blow up the Humpy Dome.
