The coverage on the BTN was pathetic. Only one camera, often from high
atop the press box. The sound quality was even worse, as we often
received sound both from WGN radio and a different sound feed from
wgnradio.com at the same time. For a while, though, everything worked
fine, and it was certainly better than no feed at all. That being said,
the team appears to be ready for a bowl season.
On that front, I was recently on campus and ran into Fitz. I told him
that I had promised my daughter that I will take her to whatever bowl
game we play in this coming season. Coach paused, looked me right in the
eye, then stated, "How does Pasadena sound?"

Our softball team is 16-2 in the conference, tied with Michigan for
first place. We had a great chance to go two games up on them last
weekend, but they scored 3 in the bottom of the last inning to beat us,
3-2. We then had another tough loss to Alabama on Tuesday of this week,
again blowing a lead in the last inning. But we're having another
excellent year, particularly when you consider how young our team is. We
have only one senior, so we're going to be even better next year. We
host Michigan State this weekend, while Michigan travels to Penn State.
The regular season conference winner will host the Big Ten tournament
next week. If we wind up tied with the Wolverines, there will be a coin
flip to determine the tournament host. Go Cats!
