Fellow Wildcat Faithful,
Looking at the pre-season schedule, I think this is the year the Cats get through without a loss. I realize we have about 45 years of data indicating that they won't be able to do it, but Navy finally beat Notre Dame last year so it's time for another streak from the 1960s to end.
We have a lot of talent returning and a very weak schedule. Rivals has been doing a countdown to kickoff ranking of every I-A team. The Cats came in at #57(low, in my opinion). Here's how the pre-season schedule looks.
SYRACUSE:
Rivals rank #87. They were an awful team last year and they lost their top two WRs.
DUKE:
Rivals rank #101. This team plain sucks and I expect a MAJOR revenge win for last year's embarrassment. I'll be attending in person and I want a big win.
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS:
I-AA, so Rivals doesn't rank them. They are not as good as UNH or App. State. The cats will win this one.
OHIO:
Rivals rank #98.Strong MAC teams are scary, but Ohio is a middle-tier squad without a clear #1 at QB.
I could actually see the team coming back from Iowa at 5-0 with a real test against Michigan State on Oct. 11th. I just checked the schedule and we apparently have a bye week before MSU. That's a great break in the schedule.
Victory & Honor,
Jim
