Overall, it seems like Fitz did some nice work filling the two coordinator spots and this is truly now his own staff.

Like the idea of grabbing a young, up-and-coming MAC coordinator for OC who's familiar with the spread.

Love the idea of getting a savvy vet with excellent experience for the DC slot.

I think it fits perfectly into both our needs in those areas. On defense, we need a proven winner who can come in and build a D and system from essentially the nothing we've had in recent years. He's not really someone who's looking to leave or move up right away, just get a chance to coach on his own. And for the offense, we needed just what we got there as well - someone who knows the spread and can tinker but basically keep our system running well - maybe he'll rise up and leave soon, but that's OK because it's not our key need area.

Obviously the results on the field will be the main evaluation, and we'll have to see how everyone meshes and recruits - but heading into spring ball, there should be a lot of optimism in Evanston with a new defense under an experienced coordinator and our veteran offense returning. Fitz looks to have thought these hires over and found the right people on paper ... now let's hope they're right on the field.
