[NU Sports] New OC - Mick McCall?

MAC teams regularly play BT teams, so he DOES have the experience of going up
against them.

Over the past couple of years, BG played MSU, Minny, OSU, Wisky, Purdue, and
NU and has better record in the league over that period of time than we do.

They also have done a somewhat less successful tour of Oklahoma getting
killed by Oklahoma and Tulsa.

All things considered, it looks like a good fit. He proven he can win. He's
a guy looking to move up. He comes from a background of coaching QB's in an
offense the depends very heavily on that position. Don't know what his role
was in recruiting the two stud QB's that BG had, but I suspect it was
significant.

I hate to be a skeptic, but couldn't we do better than someone with just one
year of experience as OC from the MAC? Is he ready for the Big Ten? Or, do
we have to wait until he gets some experience going up against UM, OSU and
Illinois a few times? And, I don't want to hear about McGee's lack of
experience because he was hired and mentored by Walker, a strong,
experienced offensive coach. Now we'll have a young head coach without any
offensive experience and an OC with just one season in a mid-level D-IA
conference. I think a good Big Ten program would find someone more seasoned
and ready for the big time.

Sporting News is reporting the new OC will apparently be Bowling Green's
Mick McCall, who was promoted to OC there last season after four years as QB
coach.

He also spent some time as an assistant at Oregon State, among others.
