Wow - hopefully like others have said, it's on Joe's terms. He's definitely earned it.
Those Purdue folk who complain about plateauing (and I remember a few of 'em from when I was in Indiana a few years back even) should just look at Minnesota as a cautionary tale. They were tired of Mason's "plateau" and now they have a new, much lower, level they'll be at for awhile.
It'll be real interesting to see what happens because even though they've done some upgrades at West Lafayette during Tiller's term, it seems like Illinois and even Indiana are more committed to their football programs at this time. Once Minnesota gets their new on-campus stadium and renovations at Indiana and Illinois are done, Ross-Ade really sinks among Big Ten stadiums. Ryan Field is at least smaller and cozy - Ross Ade can be an empty half bowl and that whistle will echo loudly against the empty seats if the handoff of the job is fumbled. Tiller beat the teams he was supposed to beat and brough exciting football to West Lafayette and the Big Ten. But I'm not sure if Basketball on Grass works without him. We'll have to see.
GO BIG TEN!!! GO CATS!!!

Subject: [NU Sports] Tiller on the way out at Purdue?
The Sporting News is reporting that Purdue AD Morgan Burke is looking
for an eventual successor to Joe Tiller. One possible scenario is
bringing
someone in as an assistant for 2008 and becoming the head coach in
2009.
The 65 year old TIller is just 2 victories away from being the all-time
wins leader at Purdue.
