I would give the new guy 3 major 'goals' to work on:
- Bring some respectability to Men's Basketball.
- Get big crowds back into Dyche Stadium. That means addressing traffic
ills, parking problems, lousy concessions, the whole deal. Dyche needs to be a
weekend destination - just like Soldier Field (and, unlike Soldier Field,
affordable for families and kids).
- Improve media relations - Fitz, the new AD and the new basketball coach
should be on the rolodexes of all of the Chicago sports media types -
Sports-talk radio, TV sports anchors, local columnists. Bruce Webber and Ron Zook of
the U of I and Jerry Wainwright of DePaul seem to be all over radio, TV and
the papers - our guys need a better presence. Fitz, I know, can be just as
interesting and inspirational as Zook. Things need to change to the point
where Fitz is Chicago's college coach - not Zook or the arrogant guy from the
Evil Empire.
Oh, also raise a lot of money, make or keep our facilities competitive with
those of our conference mates, and keep the whole operation honest and above
reproach.

One never knows , but I can't see him leaving the Bay Area do take on the
project of NU.
He had a huge contract from the Warriors that has set him financially for
life (and his kids' lives too)-He lives in a beautiful home in the hills
near
Stanford and has a nice easy job as a commentator. Contrast this with time
on
the road recruiting, coaching every day, and traveling the mid west during
the
cold winter of basketball season. He would really need to have a huge
amount
of passion
