[NU Sports] Music School to move to lakefill

FINALLY!

I know a couple of years back Northwestern released a long term plan for the
lakefill area south of Regenstein and TI and it included this new Music
building - and it is great to see the plan finally come to fruition. When
the lakefill was originally completed and the current buildings built
(including Norris, Pick-Staiger, and Regenstein) the room to the south was
left vacant for another music building, but the funding never came (until
now). As a NUMBalum (and also member/president of Phi Mu Alpha (the men's
music fraternity on campus)) it is great to see the university put a
much-needed investment into the music facilities. If anyone hasn't been in
MAB (the current home of the School of Music) in a while, it obviously needs
to be replaced and the School needs more room than the current building
which is a patchwork of expansions.

Regarding the current building, apparently plans have not yet been made
(according to the Daily, below):

I would imagine that it would either be renovated in order to preserve its
historic aspect and house something more appropriate for its size or razed
(not likely due to the age and significance of the building to NU). I don't
believe that it's in an Evanston designated historic district, so NU should
have options available if they choose to renovate or remove.
