Another indication of how dull the announcers were. I had exactly the same reaction when I saw that prepared segment. The announcers missed it completely and chose to focus only on the "win a bowl game" goal. It was a sorry display for a game touted as the "journalism bowl".

Fellow Wildcat Faithful,
I suppose it's a good sign when a fan like me views a narrow loss to a 13-point favorite to be as painful as the Duke loss in 2007. Clearly Fitz has elevated my expectations. I was not at all satisfied just to 'play well against a tough opponent'.
Watching on TV there was one moment that resonated with great pride for me as an alum. At some point (I believe in the first half) they showed the Wildcats' team goals. There were two for 2008 specifically (including winning a bowl game) and three permanent program goals. They were something like this:
1) Prepare for life
2) Be a champion
3) Earn a Northwestern degree
#3 made me especially proud. Happy NU Year to all!
Victory & Honor,
Jim
