"He added that NU would probably have won the game if Fitz had been able to
play."

Or if Keyshawn Johnson had not been able (allowed) to play. :) I would be
interested to hear his perspective on that!

Subject: [NU Sports] Back from San Antonio

This was my third NU bowl game -- 1996 Rose, 2005 Sun and now 2008 Alamo. We
led in all three game, in in two of them, we had the lead in the 4th
quarter. I am drained. I was a basket case. It was agony.

That being said, San Antonio was a blast. The weather was excellent, the
Riverwalk was a lot of fun, and it was also great meeting some new people
from the list -- Lou, Harry and Scott.

Just like the Cubs will make it to the World Series one day, we will win a
bowl game, too. I think we'll accomplish our task before the Cubbies win the
NL pennant.

One more note: on my plane flight back to L.A. today, who's sitting in the
row in front of my daughter and me? None other than Morty Schapiro. We
talked for a few minutes. I told him he needed to give Fitz a lifetime
contract. His reaction: "He's a special guy." Schapiro also talked about
going to the 1996 Rose Bowl (when he was working at SC). He mentioned many
specific plays of that game, and he said the Trojans were lucky to win it.
He added that NU would probably have won the game if Fitz had been able to
play.
