[NU Sports] Next Year

I suspect that unless Mauro or Persa emerges as a distinct winner of the QB
wars, we see Mike Kafka as the starter in 2009.

Against Minny, Kafka did throw enough to allow himself the chance at
running. If he doesn't throw effectively, he's a one yard at a time back,
and better to hand off to the RB instead.

Clearly the best solution would be for Kafka to emerge as a reliable
passer. My concern is that he has had several years of camps and
practices and plenty of motivation to improve his passing skills, and
he's still not a credible threat through the air. Perhaps McCall can
create an offensive scheme which is better suited to a "run first" QB -
but why do that for the one year of eligibility that Kafka has left?

My guess is that Fitz will instead take his lumps for a season with an
underclassman who has the potential to grow into a "gunslinger" and
Kafka will remain a good backup or change of pace contributor.
