Unfortunately I was out of town and didn't get to go to the game. It sounds like we hung in there well against a good team on the road. There is no such thing as a moral victory but I am encouraged by what sounds like a good showing

? As WGN didn't have the game on, Gametracker was the only way I could follow tonight's game.? NU made a nice run to cut a 13 point lead to 2, but some one from Stanford nailed a (3) with :38 left, and that was that.? Coble got hot in the second half to get us back into the game, and we cut down on the turnovers in the second half.? We had a ton of turnovers in the first half, which enabled Stanford to lead 36-23 at half.? Stanford also had?atleast (3) big offensive rebounds in the?last 5:00 minutes of the game, which all resulted in Stanford points.? Shurna fouled out, and Moore had a rough night, but we played tough against an undefeated Stanford team.? So we need to beat SMU and go to 8-2, and then the Big 10 opener at State College figures to be a big game, as Penn St. has played better?than usual, at least early on.??I was encouraged that rebounding was 50/50?; I was?discouraged that we turned the ball over 14 times in the first half (but only 5 times in the second half.)? If we beat SMU, still a fine start to the season.
?????????? GO CATS!!!???????? Eric?

The glut of mediocre bowl games in front of half-empty stadiums didn't really appeal to me today, so I caught a few of the basketball games and highlights.
I know NU has been off to a strong start, but it also looks as if the Big Ten is much better than expected this year. Consider we have wins over ...
- Top 10 Notre Dame (Ohio State on a neutral court)- Top 10 Louisville (Minnesota - neutral)- Top 5 UCLA (Michigan - away)- Top 5 Duke (Michigan - home)- Top 5 Texas (MSU - away)
Plus, Wisky and Purdue -- the two league favorites -- are gonna be tough as well with the Boilers beating the Fighting Stephon Currys today.
So we better get all the wins we can now, because the Big Ten -- aside from Indiana (thanks Kelvin!) -- won't be as down as thought this year.
