[NU Sports] Painful loss to Stanford

Cats lost to Stanford in basketball 65-59 in a painful game.

The Stanford defense smothered the Cats throughout the first half, and the Cats turned the ball over 14 times in the first half alone, leading to a 13 point half-time deficit.

But then with under 10 minutes to play, the Cats got hot and fought back to a 1 point deficit.

Then came the most painful play of the game.  The Cats were down just 2 with about 2 minutes left when Stanford missed a free throw, but the Cats couldn't get the rebound.  After running down the shot clock, the Cardinal barely beat the buzzer to drain a 3 to take a 5 point lead, and that was basically the game.

The Cats fought back nicely in the second half, but the first half turnovers and offense in general doomed the Cats tonight.
