[NU Sports] NU Names Morton Schapiro as new President

Interesting.  An anecdote from about ten minutes ago:

After reading this announcement, I walked over to the desk of a colleague
who earlier today had been talking with someone else about her son deciding
on colleges.  I asked her, "Isn't Williams one of the schools your son is
considering?"  "No, Amherst," she replied.  "He was looking at Williams
too--they're pretty similar--but Williams just seemed too sports-oriented,
and that isn't really his thing."

(The other schools he is considering are Brown and Carleton--NU felt too big
to him, she said.)

In the non-athletics realm, I'm very, very interested to see what an
economist with an eye towards making education more affordable to acquire
does for NU.  It'll be entirely too late for me (and the ridiculous debt
load NU has put me into), but I am very hopeful that at the helm of a
prominent University located in a newly-nationally-relevant city, Schapiro
can make some g
good changes.

Thoughts on either?
