[NU Sports] Alamo not interested in Wisconsin

Most of the world, especially in Hawkeye country, believes that Iowa will be
picked above NU for the Outback bowl (virtually every projection this week
has Iowa in the Outback and NU in the Alamo). BUT, I believe NU stands a
reasonable chance of getting into the Outback given the arguments we've gone
over here numerous times (NU has a better overall record, beat Iowa
head-to-head, travels well to bowl games and shells out the cash, while Iowa
has been to Tampa 2 of the past 6 seasons and NU has never been there and
hasn't been to Florida since the 1996 season), although it will still be a
close one. Northwestern has been and will continue to campaign hard for
that Outback spot - as stated publicly in the Sunday Trib article on the
subject.
I also read the article from Milwaukee and given that the president and CEO
of the Alamo Bowl made that quote, if it's between NU and Wisc or Minny it
looks like NU will get the nod.
In any case we'll wait and see - I'll be glued to the TV and internet next
Sunday evening waiting for the pairings to come out.
