Greetings from Beijing, Wildcat faithful --

Former NU swimmer Matt Grevers took silver in the men's 100-meter
backstroke a few moments ago, behind another American, Aaron Peirsol.

Here is what Matt had to say:

On his performance:

"I feel like it's a Gold after (Aaron) PEIRSOL (USA). A lot of people in
the race knew that we were not toying around but saving energy for the
final. I swam a 52 and raced second so I got what I hoped for. It's
possibly the best place I could have gotten."

On whether Aaron PEIRSOL (USA) is the best backstroker in the world:

"Absolutely. He is a great guy. He gave me some private lessons during
our training camp. I don't have the shoulder strength that he does so I
can't pull the amount of water he does. Hands down, he is the best
backstroker ever."

On developing his stroke in Arizona, USA:

"There's some kind of magic in Arizona water and I became a backstroker.
It beats me."

Go Wildcats!

Alan
