Reminds me of a quote from Jack Kent Cooke, who owned the Lakers and 
then brought NHL hockey to Los Angeles. When nobody showed up for Kings 
games in L.A. for many of those early years, Cooke said something like 
this:  "With all of the former Canadians who live in the Los Angeles 
area, I had thought that hockey would be much more popular. But now I 
know why they left Canada:  they hate hockey!"
