Wildelk knows that it's the 3rd Spring practice, but there's something I
need to get off my chest:
We win 31 straight in Lacrosse; we've won 3 titles in a row, and...a new
field is built! Meanwhile, our basketball team languishes in a dump, and not
one word is mentioned about a new stadium. It occurred to me that no one in
their right mind would take the coaching job as it's obvious that out of 11
teams in the Big 10, we are 11th in caring whether or not we excell.
My .02: Carmody, if given the proper resourses, would (or will) win a
lot of games. I point toward Sterling Williams. While he may not be the
answer to our prayers, its what he stands for. A toehold into the public league;
its brought us Jeremy Nash and Michael Thompson, and most of agree that
Thompson is a player. (not sure that Williams and Nash are) Capocci and Ryan may
turn out to be O.K. and the recruits coming in look to be a step up.
I'm pissed s hell as our basketball team has stepped back. Our defense
sucked, and we were out-rebounded by a large margin offensively and defensiv
ely. As many posters has pointed out, the conference after 6,7 years is
figuring out the Princeton offense. But as Dennis (TBNG) has pointed out, "It's
the talent, stupid."
Now there are those who say that Carmedy can't recruit talent. Gee, I
wonder why? It's not the coaches fault! Until our University/athletic
supporters (jocks:)) draw the line and insist on excellance like GB did, we will be
10-20 every season. Don't blame the coach.
Football post will be coming soon, but I'm ecstatic over Louis Ayeni
joining our staff. One of the hardest hitters I've seen don the purple (and
he's on offense!); there will be no question about our effort.
GO CATS!!! Eric
