[NU Sports] Bring on Michigan...

Fellow Wildcat Faithful,

Despite the Duke Debacle and the Columbus Collapse, I think our Cats have a chance against Michigan today. We'd have a much better chance if Sutton were playing, but our game plan depends more on defense, especially of Mallett starts at QB.

A freshman QB making his first start on the road is going to stick to the safe short passes. Michigan will want to run the ball 45 times. If we had any DC other than Greg Colby, I imagine we'd bring 8 people up and have 2 LBs spy Michael Hart. If he can be kept under 100 yards, we will win.

On offense, we need to let CJ run: options, designed QB running plays, and scrambles. Michigan has trouble with spread offenses that feature mobile QBs.

My hunch is that Michigan will get a 14-point lead in the first half and then Llyod Carr will try to sit on the lead by running Hart between the tackles. If the Cats can stay focused and find the end zone at least twice, I think we can win the rest with field goals.

Victory & Honor,
Jim
