Probably won't have standings until fall break at this
point - oh well, not much in a football mood lately
between the Saints and Cats. UGH.
We have a big game in the Big East ... I know, I can't
believe it's not Louisville-WVU either ... on Friday,
so picks will be due by kickoff in Tampa on Friday
night.

MY PICKS
========
* PENN STATE 26, Illinois 21 - Good game, but the Nits
rebound and usually play mobile quarterbacks well,
while the Illini make just enough mistakes to come up
short again.
* IOWA 21, Indiana 14 - So tempted to go with the
upset here, but the Hoosiers played worse than I
expected last week while Iowa played better. Hawks at
home.
* WISCONSIN 34, Michigan State 24 - Good clash here,
and if Sparty wins, they finally make their case for
the top 20, but Wisky's at home and once again finds a
way to keep winning.
* OHIO STATE 56, Minnesota 7 - Why is ESPN grabbing
this night game from the Big Ten Network?
* PURDUE 48, Notre Dame 14 - To see how far the Irish
have fallen, this looks like a sure-fire Saturday
Night national game preseason and now isn't even
picked up by ABC (opting instead for yet another USC
blowout of a mid-level Pac 10 team ... is ABC Saturday
Night now the unofficial USC network?). This one might
be as ugly as the USC game with Purdue's offense, but
the woeful Boiler D keeps it closer.
* FLORIDA 28, Auburn 13 - This might be a trap game at
Jordan-Hare, but not at the Swamp.
* FLORIDA STATE 35, Alabama 31 - The Tide are still
stinging from last week while po' Bobby don't want to
be plum embarassed on national televisioney thingy
again, dag gummit.
* GEORGIA TECH 23, Clemson 20 - The leaves are
starting to turn, which means it's time for yet
another promising Clemson start to fizzle in the wacky
ACC.
* OREGON 47, California 41 - Now someone tell ABC that
*this* is the Pac 10 game that deserves a national
prime-time audience and will bring in the big numbers
this week. This shootout should be fun, and the Ducks
get the win at home.
* WEST VIRGINIA 41, South Florida 21 - Not a believer
in the Mountaineers as MNC contenders, but they are
the class of the Big East still.
And off the board ...
* MICHIGAN 38, Northwestern 17 - Hopefully the Cats
don't come out mopey and shell shocked like last week,
but even if they play well, Mike Hart and Michigan
look to have righted the shop and pull away in the
second half.
Remember, picks in by FRIDAY!
GO CATS!!!
