Definitely. Nice stats - I know we like to say that we
"take what the defense gives us" - but I think some
defenses are lulling us into abandoning the run and
they still cover the pass.

And it's not just the lack of running - but lack of
imagination in the runs. We ran that delayed counter
most of the time - doesn't Roberson know another run?
We're not an option team, but against Northeastern we
ran it once and it worked well. Surely one of the 4th
downs called for it?

Actually, the D line was one of the few bright spots
today ... mostly thanks to Lloyd Carr stepping in as
Duke's offensive play caller in the second half. Yeesh
did they try not to lose!

And it can't be said enough that this ACC crew was
awful. And it wasn't just against us - we benefitted
from two pretty lousy calls in the second half. But
their quick flags took us out of our game at the start
and their lack of flags at the end for interference
was puzzling - NOW they swallow it?

We dominated the second half statistically - and held
our own in the first save the turnovers. It was a loss
we can spread around, but our penalties, lack of red
zone production and play calling really stick out.

I know you don't take points off the board - but I
don't blame Fitz too much for going for it - we needed
a spark (the play call could have been better, though)
- and honestly, it shouldn't have made a difference.
The D (and replay) held Duke scoreless in the second
half. All we had to do was score two touchdowns.

Bottom line is we were flat all around and didn't
deserve the victory. It was still there for the taking
somehow, but we couldn't even take the gift!

UGH!
GO CATS!!!
