No standings yet, but we have the week 3 lineup. We
won't try and rush to get Thursday's sorta-big game
in, so all picks due by kickoff Saturday ...

MY PICKS
========
* ILLINOIS 37, Syracuse 10 - Would be a better
basketball game ... and an even better citrus drink
with the obscene amounts of orange on display
* INDIANA 30, Akron 21 - The Zips hung in there in the
Shoe, and IU's defense was porous last week, so it's
closer than expected.
* IOWA 24, Iowa State 14 - This is usually a trap game
for the Hawks - but they pull away late.
* MICHIGAN 2, Notre Dame 0 - The game someone's gotta
win ... two freshman QBs, an abysmal Michigan D
against an inept Irish offense ... as long as Big Blue
doesn't turn the ball over, they should win here.
* MICHIGAN STATE 35, Pitt 17 - Sparty warms up for
their crack at the Irish with a ho-hum win over the
Panthers.
* FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL 38, Minnesota 34 - Tough call
here, but FIU has played decent and is at home during
the midday Florida heat, while Minny is exhausted from
back-to-back OT games with the MAC.
* OHIO STATE 16, Washington 13 - Could be the game of
the day as Ty Willingham (how good is he looking to
Domers now?) has the Huskies back and OSU's offense is
still working out some kinks. Buckeyes survive barely.
* PENN STATE 49, Buffalo 0 - The Nits found a running
game last week, so if Morelli just gets consistent,
they could be the team to beat in the Big Ten.
* PURDUE 56, Central Michigan 23 - Basketball on turf
is all the rage in West Lafayette now, with the
Boilermaker offense finding its stride.
* WISCONSIN 41, The Citadel 14 - After Bucky almost
lost their big UNLV gamble last week, it's back to
form in Camp Randall.
NATIONAL
========
* FLORIDA 17, Tennessee 16 - Something tells me this
one's ripe for an upset as the Gators are flying a tad
too high ... but I just can't bring myself to pick
Phat Phil in the Swamp against the defending champs.
* ALABAMA 25, Arkansas 22 - This one has been a wild
series in recent years, and this game should be a lot
of fun with Saban and the Tide announcing their return
to big-time football by Hog-tying McFadden.
* USC 38, Nebraska 7 - The Trojans thrive in prime
time games and know they need to look impressive in
Lincoln after LSU's thumping of VaTech last week.
* GEORGIA TECH 27, Boston College 21 - It seems that
just like last year, the wildly mediocre ACC will be
messing up our picks ... GaTech should win here at
home, but who knows.
* LOUISVILLE 48, Kentucky 45 - We know the Cardinals
don't have a D, but they do have an O and survive this
commonwealth shootout.
And off the board ...
* NORTHWESTERN 31, Duke 14 - The Cats woke up in time
last week but need to pounce all over this one early
to avoid Duke getting a whiff of winning. Hopefully
that's just what happens under the lights in Evanston.
Picks in by Saturday!
