[NU Sports] Hell freezes over in Michigan

The athletic director at the University of Michigan, Bill Martin, has
consistently proven himself to me to be one of the really good guys in
sports. I got to know him in 2003, when he served as the interim head of
the U.S. Olympic Committee. My take is that Martin would be highly
unlikely to make a coaching change in the middle of the season, no
matter how many unthinkable losses or even brutal whippings Michigan
endures.
 There had been a report earlier in the year (Ann Arbor paper, I
believe) that the language in Carr's contract had changed -- a signal
that at the end of this season he was likely to become an associate AD,
or some such thing.
 Given all that, my guess is that Michigan is unlikely to make any
changes -- for a lot of reasons, personal and professional -- until
after this football season.
 Of course, I have been wrong before.
 But as I like to remind my wife: sometimes, I'm right.
