Good story. reminds me of 1959 when I was 10 and my dad got tickets for  game 
one of the sox - dodgers world series and my mother called up Sister Mary  
(my principal) and told her I was going to be absent from school as I was going  
to the game. The Sister said she understood, and asked my mother if she had  
an extra ticket. As for your Berkeley trained wife, tell her you are taking  
them to protest the treatment of native Americans in adventure  land at 
Disneyland.  
As far as the CATS! game I think it depends on your synagogue,  orthodox - 
no, conservative - maybe,  reform -  absolutely.
