[NU Sports] Girardi (fwd)

Much of that stems from a New Yorker profile of Scott Boras that floated
that very possibility. Only problem is MLB rules prohibit a player owning a
piece of a club while playing, which would include a contractually obligated
guarantee of a deferred piece upon retirement in the way the Penguins gave
Lemiuex a percentage of the club while he was still playing. I suppose a
deal could be structured in such a way the Selig would approve it, since he
can be convinced to approve pretty much anything owners want these days -
especially if those owners are his buddies which seems likely in the case of
the Cubs.

The local Harrisburg PA has A-Rod wanting a piece of the Cubs ownership in
some form or the other.
