One thing you have to love about Girardi being named Manager of the Yanks (besides him being eminently qualified for the position) is that virtually every article descirbes him as "intelligent" and "well-prepared", and then in that sentence or the next one mentions that he went to Northwestern where he received a degree in Engineering.  We haven't received such good and widespread publicity since the Rose Bowl.  The Yankee Manager job is one of the most, if not the most, prominent leadership positions in the world of sports (even overseas I would guess).

Girardi better be a good engineer because he's going to have to build a lot of bridges to the owner's office and breastworks against the press.
