The team that tackles and blocks better almost always wins. Certainly true
today. Despite PU handing opportunities through penalties, Cats were
pathetic with the arm tackling and sloppy blocking on the front line. Bacher, like
any other QB, can't perform well if he's rushed, which happened most of the
day. Cat offense had a sobering reality check playing a pretty good defense
(certainly better than Minny or Central Michigan). The coaches and players
will have to turn things around to win any of the last three games. This was
not a great day for Northwestern football. I thought they'd play better after
the stumbling W over EMU.

Barring a miracle comeback, we really let one slip
away here in West Lafayette ...
Two stops to start the half for the D and all we can
come up with is a field goal to capitalize. That miss
on 3rd and goal really seemed to be the turning point.
But even after that, Purdue went 3-and-out and we had
the ball up three. It seemed like on all of our
offensive series after that, we went for the home run
on the first play, backing ourselves into 2nd and 3rd
and long. We also forgot about the balance and the
run.
Just sickening because despite the turnovers and poor
play early, we missed a big chance to get the W here
with Purdue having an off day on O and needing a lot
of bounces and two fourth down conversions on the goal
line to get it done.
The margin for error gets smaller now and Iowa's
mounting a nice comeback. Gotta come out sharp and not
let up next week.
GO CATS!!!
