I read someplace that the attendance figure of Friday's game wouldn't be
available until today. Sure enough, it was listed on Nusports.com as 10,000.
You've got to be kidding! Clearly, there wasn't any more than 5,000 (probably
3,000) at that game. Call me crazy, but in a dead environment like that, it
would hard to get excited.
I thought our play was mediocre, but we ran the ball a bit better, and
our FG kicker ended his slump. Conteh's fumble at the beginning of the 3rd
period kept EMU in the game; we go up 20-7 at that point, and it might have been
lights out. Still we won the turnover battle , what, 4-1?
Numbers: Looks like we need 7 to bowl this season. Let's make a risky
assumption, and assume we lose to Purdue and beat an average Iowa team at home
( I hope my fellow posters didn't buy into the Iowa rhetoric in the early
season mags; they're a .500 bunch at best). So we need to split
Indiana/Illinois. I'm more worried about Indiana, as I see some sort of 2001 repeat when
some one named Randel-El turned us out.
However, our friends in Champaign seem to be coming unglued. Iowa shook
their confidence, and now there's a late season QB controversy along with a
hard-fought bitter loss. And if you think Ball St.'s a push-over, think
again.
Four big games for our program. I'm looking forward to the next few
weeks!

          GO CATS!!! Eric
