After watching the Nevada, Duke and EMU games, playing down to the
competition level certainly is a plausible explanation, although that is not much of
tribute to the coaches or team leadership. In any case, it will be by no
means an excuse in the four remaining games. Each Big Ten opponent has the
potential to whip us unless the Cats remedy the non-existent pass rush, deplorable
kick coverage, and coverage-challenged corner backs. Unless the Cats
correct those problems quickly, Purdue will do to us what they did to Iowa. No one
should expect the offense to keep compensating for the defense/special teams
flaws. I doubt we'll be able to score 45 or 50 points against the
Boilermakers. We win or lose depending on what the defense/special teams do.

level the 'Cats can't reach).
It's really that simple, I think.
