Good game in Champaign tonight.
It's a shame good ole' Brent was waxing nostalgic
throughout the fourth quarter - seemed like he, Herbie
and the rest of ABC missed a pretty big play.
I could have sworn that I heard a whistle on Illinois'
muffed punt that came with a tie score and gave
Michigan the ball at the 10, and the lead two plays
later. After the play, the Illini player went right to
the ref and even a poor lip reader like me could make
out whistle in his plea/yell for an explanation.
Any replays from ABC? Nope.
Good game though and for as many headaches as it's
going to cause us in the coming years, Zook is proving
to be a great thing for the Big Ten overall.
Like MSU, Illinois is a sleeping giant for football -
with his recruiting and the enthusiasm in Champaign,
that's going to be a great football environment for
games in the coming years. And since UI and IU seem to
do everything the same in stadium names, looks like
both are getting much needed renovations that should
boost the program.
Happy Valley in a full White Out next week should be
another great league showcase in prime time for the
Big Ten football experience with the great environment
of Happy Valley
As for the Illini team - much like watching Indiana
earlier today, there's a lot of young talent there in
the skill positions ... but they also make a lot of
mistakes with their inexperience like IU. We have to
keep our poise and use our experience to our advantage
over youthful talent and overaggressiveness vs. the
Hoosiers and Illini. Hopefully they'll be generous
with the turnovers and penalties as well.
GO CATS!!! BEAT THE BOILERS!!!
