[NU Sports] All-time Cat football team

I considered Strikwerda, and maybe he should be there. I'm unfamiliar with
him, and Essex did get drafted, although I agree he never had superstar
written on him while at NU. I'm still too pi**ed at Gary Barnett to include
him in anything but Mt. Trashmore so the team can run over his duplicitous
face, even while admitting he was the savior of NU football. Trouble is, he
became Judas. Parseghian also did a lot with little and is among the
all-time coaching greats.
No one has noticed Fred "The Hammer" Williamson is missing. I know nothing
about him except that he was a bad actor who starred in very bad movies and
made an awful color announcer on Monday Night Football.
Someone brought up Bob Christian, and his absence on the list was certainly
an oversight. They also brought up Rob Johnson because of his GPA. Sorry,
but this is a football team, not a debating society. They also discussed
Ross Lane, who is becoming a fine possession receiver. But my choice for
best current receiver would be Eric Peterman. Maybe in a year or two I will
be able to add one or both of their names to the list.
I have also seen websites that tout Deante Battle as all-conference, but I
haven't seen that performance from him yet.
It is a shame that I struggled to find six defensive lineman from more than
forty years of NU football, and only one of them could be deemed an NFL
star. Somehow we have to find some talent for the DL, or we are never going
to have a consistent defense.
