It's not really a 'focus on the negative' as much as it is a focus on
reality. GREG COLBY continues to give up yardage (and points) at an alarming rate.
Today's 586 yards and 48 points brought GREG COLBY to 2,953 yards (an
average of 422 per game) and 226 points against (an average of 32.3 a game). This
digs a TREMENDOUS hole every week that the offense has to dig itself out of.
In his shameful 6 year NU career, GREG COLBY has given up an astounding
29,213 yards (about 430 per game) and an equally astounding 2,108 points (31 per
game). This is unfair to both the offense (which essentially has to start
each game 30 or so points down) and the defense, which has talented young men
that deserve much better direction. In fact, the high point of this
afternoon's game defensively was the sequence of second-half interceptions, in which
our defenders' athleticism, character and heart overcame the moron who was
ostensibly leading them, and, in effect, took GREG COLBY's headsets off.
If GREG COLBY were a man of character, he would have tendered his
resignation today. He's not, of course - our players on BOTH sides of the ball will
have to overcome his incompetence for the next 5 games. That's not being
negative, just REAL.

PS - Is the Mark Murphy Publicity machine already preparing press releases
for the Purdue game - when GREG COLBY will probably hit the 30,000 yard mark
(in only his sixth season !) ?
