Fellow Wildcat Faithful,
I think Saturday's win in East Lansing gives us real cause for optimism. We are 3-3 heading into Homecoming. Sure, we should be 4-2, but we still have a very good shot at 6-6 (or better) season.
I wish we had a stronger running game, but in the Michigan State game we all saw that Bacher can be incredibly productive when the O-line gives him time. I'm still a firm believer that Colby needs to go, but the Michigan game showed us that our defense has potential. It is now up to our coaches to get both the offense and defensive to show up to the same game.
I feel very good about our chances against Minnesota and Eastern Michigan. If the Cats come through, we're at 5-3. I know that Indiana and Illinois are hot right now, but I think the Cats are capable of beating one of them and knocking off Iowa.
I will gladly drive 9 hours north to Detroit should a 6-6 NU team go to the Motor City Bowl. Especially if Colby is fired after the regular season and Fitz opts to personally coach the defense until a new DC can be hired.
There's still reason for optimism. It starts with Gopher meat on Saturday.
Victory & Honor,
Jim
