I would argue that the fact that MM was looking does not show a lack of  
commitment by NU, but actually shows a desire on MM's part to succeed at the  
highest level of his chosen profession.  There are 119 Div-I AD's, and  only 32 
NFL team presidents.  We could argue that if any one of us were the  NU AD, and 
it was made known to us that an NFL team wanted our services, we  would almost 
certainly listen to what they had to say, without implying, in any  way, that 
NU was not a first-rate institution (of course, we might have a bit  more 
loyalty to NU if we were alums).
