[NU Sports] Duke fires football coach Ted Roof

At this point in the season the only people who remember (NU fans and Duke
fans) are trying to forget.  

No one else cares.

It's sad that we won't get a bowl bid, but honestly the team and coaches
didn't earn it.  They had the talent and they had the opportunity.  They just
didn't execute.

It will be a useful season if the coaches and players assume responsibility
for their disappointments and make the necessary commitments to be better
prepared for next year.  That's what winners do.

As an example, Michigan lost to OSU 50-14 in 1968.  When asked why he went
for a two point conversion to push the score to 50, Woody responded, "'Cause
I couldn't go for three".  Bo was hired the next year could have easily
blamed this on the previous coaches.  Instead, he rubbed that score in his
teams face from the first day of training camp putting it on their uniforms
and making them run across it going to and from the locker room.  Even though
they were huge underdogs, they crushed OSU's bid for a repeat national
championship in 1969 24-12.

Soon it will be time for us to put this to bed and let the players a coaches
prepare for next year.

two days after the Blue Devils concluded a 1-11 season with their  ninth
straight loss. After snapping a 22-game losing streak with a victory at
Northwestern, the Blue Devils lost nine straight to end this season.
