[NU Sports] attendance

I was listening to some sports radio interviews today with John McDonough
who just moved over to be president of the Blackhawks from the same position
with the Cubs. Anyways he said you can have as many conventions, gimmicks,
and talk as you want, but nothing beats winning. And he was around while
the Cubs really gathered a huge fan base not just in this region but around
the country and have gone on to set attendance records and such (despite not
winning a pennant or title). Obviously the college level is a little
different, but it was interesting hearing from someone who's job was
directly tied with promoting the team off the field and getting fans in the
seats. An interesting quote was that a game is like a "long commercial" for
the team, and if people like what they see they'll come out for a game.
