Ohio beating Michigan is probably slightly better for the conference, but  
probably cannot help our (non-existant) bowl hopes any.  OSU came into the  
weekend ranked #7, but #2 Oregon has already fallen to Arizona, and #3/4/5  
Kansas/Missouri/Oklahoma all play each other in the next 2 weeks  (Kansas/Missouri 
next week, then PROBABLY the winner vs Oklahoma in the Big 12  title game), so 
two of them will probably fall.  Right now, LSU is beating  Ole Miss, but it's 
close.  They could get knocked-out in the SEC title  game.  In short, OSU is 
#7 now (actually #6), and if they could rise to #2,  and get into the National 
Championship game, the Rose Bowl "MIGHT" go with a Big  Ten team to honor the 
age-old ties (like they did the last time OSU played in  the title game).  
Would the Rose Bowl try and grab Illinois ?   Michigan would seem to be out with 
a 2-game losing streak.
 
All of this 'what if' stuff is why we should never go to a D-I  playoff.  
Unfortunately, none of this seems to help a 6-6 team very  much.
