[NU Sports] Basketball

Unfortunately, the coach is not allowed to go out there and shoot the free
throws for the players. If a player can't hit a free throw, I don't know
how you can blame this on the coaching staff - they must have shot some in
high school and it's basically the most simple thing that's done on the
basketball floor.

Regarding the lack of size, I was surprised to see NU in the game down only
by 5 or 6 with time winding down in the game - surprising given the fact
that Stanford had a huge size advantage. Also, NU was obviously hurt by the
lack of Coble, hopefully his mother gets well soon and he can return to the
team.

There's a lot of promise on the team, but the fact is that they're still
young - it was nice to see a breakout game by Thompson who has the potential
to be special down the road, especially if the right guys can be put in
place around him. I heard an interview with him following the game on the
radio and he was very well-spoken - and he's a freshman.
